PRAYERS are really needed for my family. Last Wednesday we found out my mother-in-law was sick. She was admitted to the hospital and we found out she had a brain tumor. On Sunday, the doctors performed a biopsy. We then found out it was CANCER! She has a cancerous brain tumor the size of a tangerine on the right side of her head. She went home Sunday and has to go back on Friday to talk to some a doctor that is looking to perform the surgery to remove it. This surgeon actually, is wanting her to be awake while he tries to remove the tumor. If she does this, there is less of a chance for paralysis to happen. It's not guaranteed to not cause her left side to loose all feeling but there's hope that it will prevent it. We all pray that she comes out still able to move her left side. We know that the surgeon will probably not be able to remove all the tumor and that the remaining part will be treated with radiation to shrink it and chemo to kill the cancer. Oh, I forgot to mention...it is a fast growing tumor so the docs say that they cannot wait too long to perform the surgery or she will begin to have her health decline.
Our problem has been KeKe in all this. She is only 3 yrs old...how do you make a 3 yr old understand that her favorite NaNa is so sick. She says stuff like "awww, why does she have to have surgery" but she cannot really understand the severity of this. She loves her NaNa so much that my DH and I really did not want to tell her. We finally did and are glad b/c we don't want to try to shelter her from life. She will have to learn like the rest of us that bad things happen to people we love. We all just hope that NaNa makes a full recovery so KeKe can grow up having her around. We all love her and pray that all goes well. More will be posted as the surgery is done to remove it. Please keep my family in your prayers. Thank you.
