Our new cat...Galaxy

We adopted a cat yesterday morning from PetsMart's Snowflake Rescue. Her name is Galaxy. She is about 9 years old. She was abandoned from her owners after they could not afford to pay her vet bill due to a urinary tract infection. The vet contacted Snowflake Rescue and since they were packed full of other animals waiting to be adopted, they called us since they knew we were looking for a cat that had been declawed. I have recently found out from the Rescue that it is painful for cats to be declawed...we did not know that. Anyway, they called us and asked us if we wanted her. We said yes...guess what??? The vet fixed the urinary tract infection, also fixed the left eyelid that was turning in and gave us medicine to put on her stitches for FREE! The vet was so happy we were going to take her b/c if we didn't, they were going to have to put her to sleep. That was hard to hear! She is such a loving, peaceful cat. It is a shame that no one else wanted her. I am happy we saved her life. So, meet the newest member of our family...Galaxy!

Congratulation to Galaxy for finding such a wonderful family! I have decided to follow your blog..because you have touched my heart! There are not a lot of folks that would take a full grown cat..and give her a loving home! What a really great thing to do!
I have a granddaughter and her name is Kristy. She has a little boy and girl and lives in Georgia.
You remind me somewhat of her! You both have big hearts.
It will be fun getting to know you and your little one..and Galaxy!
See you soon!

Hi!
I´m happy that You decided to take care of an abandoned cat! I just wrote about abandoned animals in my blog a couple of days ago. But when it comes to Your cat it isn´t by cruelkty it´s left at least.

In my country, Sweden, it´s forbidden to declaw cats. Doing that here and You´ll get arrested for cruelty towards animals. Not only for the pain it gives the cat, but we beliv cats needs their claws in life. But different countries looks upon that in different ways, so I´m not judging any one.
I´ll check in here now and again!
Have a great day!
Christer.
